A taut recounting of the brutal attacks: Hotel Mumbai, a review

Image
I'm not usually one for movies that showcase dramatized versions of real events, but boy howdy did this movie change my mind. I'm sure you all are quite aware of the dastardly and heinous attacks that took place in November of 2008. That fateful few days had with it a pall of gloom and utter darkness on everyone's heads. For the first time in probably a very long time, we Indians stood by in solidarity and unity. Mumbai was set ablaze but ultimately only the strength of the humans spirit triumphed. This movie captures the horrors of the terror attacks that took place in the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel specifically and how. It has it all. There are subtle undertones of suspense coupled with the palpable tension, owing to the plot and the sensitive subject matter, there is joy, there is heart and most importantly the showcasing of the collective sadness and broken souls who didn't just stand by and do nothing, they fought despite having all the odds stacked against them. The d

Black Mirror: a jarring insight into technology

Image
Black Mirror is the name of the anthology series concocted wonderfully by the front runner of the show called Charles Brooker. Black mirror is just a cerebral take on how people's lives are constantly dictated by the whims of modern technology and its subsequent harmful repercussions on our lives. Each episode aims to understand the collective zeitgeist which has been ruined due to modern technology.     Given the motif of the entire series, it is a no-brainer that every single episode is set in grim and ominous dystopian settings. With the latest of innovations ruling the roost, the show is one of those highly though provoking albeit filled with really laudable scenarios throughout. With unbelievable premises in each episode leading to a final buildup and an equally enticing climax full of cliffhangers, it leaves you on the edge of your set literally and figuratively.   I for one hadn't really encountered a TV show quite as exciting and brilliant as this. From the superb pictu

Subz: a place with a twist

Image
Subz. One of those timeless restaurants in Jayanagar, Bengaluru that has inspired food lovers from far and wide to sample not just its buffet but also its wide selection of various artisanal cuisines. Being my family's favorite haunt every time we need to ring in a birthday, this is almost always the place we frequent, and for good reason as well. Covering a gamut of buffer items ranging from sweets to salads to various epicurean delights that is sure to melt your palette and makes you craving for more.    Subz is however not for the faint of heart. It is a place reserved for pure and unabashed foodies such as us as the prices being charged there are something not everyone can just splurge happily on. With a beautiful ambience that permeates very cool vibes to having the most serviceable and dedicated staff I have ever encountered. Add to that their genial, prompt nature makes this fine dining experience a must for everybody.  Subz has this lingering effect on you and I speak from

Every dog has it's day.

Good morning my fellow readers. This post will be one that is of a dear diary moment and since I don't keep a diary i decided to write it here, a la my safe space. It talks about a loss that i recently faced. The loss of something that i held very dear to in my life. You might be thinking as to why I am out of my element for a while now, well that can  be attributed to my writer's block as well as the need to be more relatable and mellow, if that makes sense. Well here goes. After weeping profusely for 2 days straight since the incident occurred, this is merely my way of acknowledging my grief and speaking it out into existence. Since entrenching myself in the locales of a suburb called Nagarbhavi and failing to find friends my own age, my only companions here are the four legged cuties who are teeming like there's no tomorrow. One particular bond forged with this cute little white bundle of joy was enduring and pure, at least i hoped it would be.  It was merely happenstan
