The rise and tide of startups
A startup, in the most general parlance implies an idea that has grown to become a multi-million dollar industry. Let us take for instance The Silicon Valley, which is nothing but a group of geniuses spearheading or leading a bunch of companies that they co-founded or founded and that global hub attracts all sorts of FDI(Foreign Direct Investment) and thus impacts how we perceive globalization on a whole.
Global conglomerates like Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Apple to name a few have gone on to rule the market space for the next millennial, due to its vast growth rate, employability factors that are only accentuated by the field of computers(sorry, if you wanna work in Amazon or any multinational you solely require a computer science degree, simple as that).
There have also been many factors that seem to go against Amazon's tenets and they are:
1) There have been many warehouse allegations and infringements of stocks shared within the Amazon board members in September 2006.
2) Even though Jeff Bezos claims that warehouse workers and owners are working conducively, the evidence proves the contrary.
3) The rosy pictures painted by people about the perks and joys of working at Amazon doesn't really ring a bell. The construction of Amazon's beautifully made geodesic dome structure which also ironically acts as the workplace in Seattle's hinterland is replete with the best of amenities suited to its worker bees. The rarity of such an architectural marvel that Amazon has the expertise to invest in and give time to is almost completely absent with any emerging startup out there. It was done as a means to curb environmental degradation and infuse biosphere rich environs for not just the convenience of its employees but for its stakeholders as well.
4)After the setting up and the inauguration of The Spheres in Seattle,US there have been multiple allegations and backlashes wherein the general public started to clampdown Amazon due to its worker-employee disparity.
5) In an Amazon workersassociation.com website, there have been claims that the workers themselves used to resort to sleeping in parking lots and whatnot due to low wage, minimal benefits and the risk of occupational hazards.
With the age of cloud computing and absolutely no paucity of software requirements, we have seen the most illustrious upwards spike in all 4 of these consortium of companies. Navigating this concrete world may pose a myriad range of challenges but you cant deny that they provide a goldmine of opportunities for those seeking it, all within grasp at the click of a button. These billion dollar companies have seen the darkest days as well as the brightest but what they market and embellish(their invasive marketing ploys and strategies ) to the common man is that once you invest, share stocks, work, and that is when you truly discover what the Meccas of business and startups really entail. Not just for the time being but also for a hopeful future. This is what the Global Village is for, the advent of technology and more is nothing but a promise land of affluence, rewards etc. These companies have been driven into the red many times by unscrupulous means of bureaucratic lapse, lack of public support, middlemen, insider trading etc: but what they did is that they got back up and showed the world that the Pandora's box of tech application is here to stay.
So climb aboard this bandwagon and let the forbidden apple(pun intended)work its magic.
