A MOVIE REVIEW:ARTICLE 15

ARTICLE 15,a riveting movie that aims at championing a lone and isolated case in India by bringing more attention and gravitas to it, so that the Indian denizen would make a departure from cliched and hackneyed romcoms to artsy movies of of grit and sheen. The film is centered around the prevalent casteist system has has led to a hearkening reality of what a veritable portayal of the Indian landscape actually is.Dabbling in topics such as this is exactly Director Anubhav Sinha's aim and leaves the viewers completely open to the bombs that are about the drop.Ayushmann, one among Bollywood youngest brigade of actors diversifies himself from movie to movie and has undoubtedly outdone himself in this slowfaced but rather satisfying watch of a movie.
Heralding the case on his own shoulders, this decorated IPS officer fights for the underdog and emerges clean at the end of it all, despite being broken and crumbled in the process.
What was passed off as honor killing was in all actuality a heinous case of rape that occurred due to caste-induced differences. This shining star of an actor just bursts forth and inhabits his character like no other, the other actors just pale in comparison.Manoj Pahwa as a corrupt cop is also pleasing in his role and brings a certain amount of specificity to it.
The Indian rural hinterland doesn't seem to learn from its mistakes and their open wounds are nothing but years and years of pointless kerfuffles for caste based equality, something that seems like a farsighted reality,in my  not-so-humble opinion.Overall the film delivers and thrills like no other but also makes you introspect about the vices prevailing in our deep rooted sustem. This is what the touches up on and makes a clear distinction between the classes that fight to gain privilege and social acceptance, amidst all the reservations and rules being imposed upon the lower strata of the echelons. All in all, this is a flick to watch whilst unwinding for the weekend or when you feel like a snowflake of this generation Z,wait till you find out the range of problems spread across the book and cranny of our nation.Shocking, gut wrenching, slow paced but also awe inspiring this movie has that aftertaste that is hard to digest.Kudos to the whole team for bringing light on these sensitive topics.Do give it a watch and enjoy the thought process that going to ensue.
