A MOVIE REVIEW:WONDER,A WONDERFUL FLICK
The film entitled "Wonder" grazed through the box office completely oblivious to all the cinephiles and the common audience alike. It was after my cousins pointed it out to me that this flick is a must see that I discovered its star wattage and the exemplary story, and long story short:i was amazed.
The inherent beauty of cinema is very abstract and is a concept that is really something transformative as well engaging: the art of celluloid. Being a movie buff, i knew that this sleeper hit would check all my boxes so i decided to give it a try.
It deals with the life of a facially disfigured named Auggie who is a curious and scientifically-gifted student but is naturally tormented and bullied in his new school. Understandably enough, the child actor who portrayed hits the nail on the head and so does the others. We are introduced to an A-list star like Julia Roberts, who made my heart melt with her raw screen presence and terrific acting as the stern but doting, lovable mother to Auggie. What matters in this story is the complementary quality of each o the family members, despite having their own clashes. He initially is home-schooled but the tight-knit family decide to open him up from his cocooned shell to the cut-throat world out there. This is where the story-line becomes cliched and hackneyed with a predicable romantic plot inadvertently creeping in, much to my dismay. But hey, it ain't no Disney movie, its not all peaches and roses and fun and frolic as it at its essence deals with bullying. This story opened my eyes to bullying in its most vile form and I can unequivocally vouch as to how the differently abled or anyone who looks even remotely different from us is picked on to no end. Then you have Owen Wilson who also plays his part rather well as the equally caring and loving father. The boy struggles to make friends and has a real hard time fitting into the social cookie-cutter mold and all but fails. The sister too makes for a compound of warmth and affection and is a beacon of hope in her brother's life.Ultimately the message that is drives home is that: NO MATTER WHAT HAND YOU'RE DEALT, BE SURE TO MAKE THE BEST OF IT.
It is incredibly heartwarming, soul stirring, poignant and I start to well up with tears as no adjective comes close to describing the cinematic genius of capturing human emotions such as this. Kudos to the entire team for concocting a masterpiece and I tip my hat to you. Sure, it has its moments but which film doesn't.
I haven't really read the award-winning novel but after this motion-picture masterpiece, I am surely going to give that a gander.
