BTS:A GIFT OR A CURSE IN DISGUISE?
All you millennials and Gen z individuals, this article is specifically for you and those who have given their oh-so -large hearts to the young and hip boy("pretty boy")band known as BTS. This band has been making headlines for their "music"(my taste in music differs, although this one is questionable to say the least)and for their extensive use of bourgeois and blindingly pale makeup. Swooning hearts all over, their cacophony only seems to grow by leaps and bounds. Hey, I am a hardcore music lover don't get me wrong, but just something about dolled up men singing on stage makes me feel that the music industry is in the wrong hands. What started as a mom and pop music group like BTS, a Korean pop band as you kids call it these days is just an overrated group of misfits up to no good.Their marketing gimmicks are poor and that goes with their really boring and tasteless music. What it really specializes in is by keeping the younger viewers hooked by a magical trance of overly done glitter and razzmatazz, because nowadays its all style over substance. I also do know that this is an unpopular opinion and would probably receive a lot of flak for saying it but this genre of music is pure cancer, plain and simple and this malignant tumor will just rise and dominate the music industry if we don't take a stand. By that I do not mean boycotting or relegating it, all I ask in return is to stop paying unwanted attention to their vast and also toxic fan base which make their music stride all the more valuable. I still distinctly remember the day when people started thronging in large numbers to their concerts and how a group of nobodies whose very music is an assault on the senses became so popular, I just don't get it.
Its not just the gals and their cohorts but also a select few of guys who treat k pop like its the next big thing. What happened to real music, the soothing and mellifluous tunes of Beethoven and Mozart which apparently made plants grow?(based on a corroborated study). Such was the power of say, Hans Zimmer whose very tracks create goosebumps to its listeners but instead we embrace the whole BTS and the k pop culture without considering the prospect of their ruin on our minds and our souls.
I recently came across several reddit posts that really read between the lines when it comes to associating themselves with either the members, the ever-growing fandom or their horrendous music.
The post is as follows:K-pop fans are usually either fickle teenagers or young adults with a limited scope of musical knowledge, so I don't take that genre seriously. K-pop is the literal definition of disposable pop music, the songs don't have longevity, they sound outdated after a year or two. There's a reason why that genre has such a high turn-over rate of debuts and those in decline.(by an anonymous user)
Their repetitive and generic music will lose its touch with the public in the coming years or so and once their fans stop promoting them, we can finally come back to a world of normalcy. Hell, this "pandemic"is even worse than the Corona Virus. At least, we know that we can recover from Covid19.Finally I would like to say that their blatant worship and putting them on a pedestal has to stop as many budding singers with actual talent are simply going by our noses and getting overlooked without so much as a "how do you do"?
STOP THIS ANARCHY.
