Is the sporting industry D.O.A(dead or alive)?!

Sports. The very word is something that was once shrouded in mystery but has evolved to suit what the people desire. Be it the Imperial art of cricket which was introduced by the British Raj but has indiansed itself so much so that we now consider it our baby,so to speak and then we have Kabaddi, a fun game of physical jostling that was conceived in the very womb of India. The niche of Chess which although requires a lot of brain power is also a fun way to kill time was also a product of Indian whimsicality. The Mughals, Zealots and overlords all enjoyed a similar passion for chess.
The popular epic of Mahabharata too had a secondary character named Shakuni who harbored  a fondness for a board game which all invariably point to the fact that we are a predominantly sports loving country. Kiren Rijiu being the sports minister has indeed given India a slight edge when it comes to excelling at International level sporting events like the Commonwealth or the Olympics, among others. It also it highly advantageous that we have an Olympic representative Col. Rajvardhan Rathore in politics now as India is in dire need of some kind of representation in the sports arena.
GROWTH OF SPORTS IN INDIA - INFODEABe it Hockey which is a highly underrated sporting choice in India's sporting template or the hysteria of football be it the likes of Sunil Chettri, Baichung Bhutia etc there is a meteoric rise in the spike of  sports.

The need of the hour has to be the growth and betterment of sports development in India as we seem to be a nation that is engineering-centric, which is downright distressing.
Michael Phelps hailing from the States hs made his country proud by bagging an astounding 28 medals with a tally of a whopping 23 in gold. Talk about hitting the jackpot!
India, a multi ethnic and multilingual nation which breeds sports on the down low just needs a little bit more of an impetus and who knows what wonders we'll be capable of.We also need to revive ancient forms of martial arts like Kalaripayattu which is a huge deal/contribution from God's own country, apart from riots and beef bans.(Don't sue me, student activists. This is merely for your benefit).

A Toast to a Golden Year for Indian Sports - India Real Time - WSJPopular biopics that stand for self-aggrandizement and which have indirectly led to the general public pursuing any form of sports are one such catalyst. Well, this lock down is probably our best bet to pursue any game of our liking.

Vishwanath Anand, a 50 year old and a chess grand master has been a veteran in the obscure art of chess for more than 30 years now(becoming the youngest ever to secure the grand master title).
Abhinav Bindra has excelled at the ancient art of shooting  with his superb hawk eye precision.
Then we move on to the realm of the more mainstream sports wherein Tennis has been represented and dominated by up and coming players like Ramkumar Ramnathan, Prajnesh Gunneshwaran, Somdev Devarrman etc wherein it was taken over by greats like Leander Paes, Vijay Amritraj etc back in their heyday. The badminton world has nestled in its very bosom players like Prakash Padukone who has now passed on the mantle to PV Sindhu who basks in the endless adulation, fame and glory like no other sportsperson has. Saina Nehwal too has left an everlasting impact in the sporting world thereby giving us Indians ample reasons to be proud of. We are all running down the Olympic dream and many have made it possible by the likes of Vijender Singh, Geeta and Babita Phogat(who single handedly crushed the age-old and archaic stereotype of women representation in not just wrestling but any sports, for that matter). Its cultural underpinnings are prominent.

As the old adage goes:"from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, we have talent bursting at the seams but adequate cultivation into the mainstream will make our sporting opportunities grow by leaps and bounds.
We pride ourselves on being a land of great culture, surplus resources and naturally there is no dearth of a strong and robust workplace working cumulatively for its own betterment.
Come on, I will be brutally honest here when  I say that we Indians have the best thriving resources, an amazing culture to boast off which can be pinned on our lapels, the best looking women too(dont get your hopes up as this doesn't add to the equation at hand, and granted a great and responsible workforce too. It is merely a money grubbing business and doesn't really work for the athletes. This notion has to change for the better.ICC U19 World Cup 2020: Complete schedule of India matches ...

In the cricketing world, form Gavaskar to Kapil Dev to the era of Sachin and Dravid to whatnot, all it takes is to work the hand we are dealt with.
