A journalist par excellence: Arnab Goswami

I put this post before you as a result of not just my undying love for India's most beloved journalist but who is also my favorite as well. Arnab Goswami ladies and gentlemen. And what makes this post even more special is that we are commemorating his 48th birthday today. Yes, the same journalist who dominates prime time news. The bespectacled genius blessed with the gift of the gab and armed with his secret weapon- his sheer intellect went on to rise through the ranks and become the managing director and editor-in-chief of The Republic Media Network, perhaps India's most watched and sought after source of procuring viable information.Arnab Goswami to appear before privilege committee today

Let me take you down memory lane. Arnab Goswami was born in Guwahati. Assam on 7th of March 1973 and me writing this blurb isn't mere coincidence but was rather ceremonious to the occasion. His upbringing was from an army regimented way of life owing to his father being an army officer. He attended schools across the length and breath of India. One can only fathom how he got all that discipline and polished royal mannerisms from.Abetment to suicide case: HC extends interim protection to Arnab Goswami | India News,The Indian Express

Goswami is an Oxford alum wherein his foreign education has been proudly pinned on his lapels and this embellishment made him take the world of journalism by storm. Taking his razor sharp wit, wonderful oratorical skills with him after completing all his formal education in 1994 at 21, he subsequently started his career with The Telegraph which was in Kolkata as a trainee. What amazes me most is his stance to remain true and utterly vociferous at all times. Tackling a range of issues for a veteran journalist like him is something that inspires me as a budding journalist myself. From handling the most burning issues in Times Now Group to switching over to Republic was indeed a game- changing move for him. Of course this came with its own set of controversies ranging from leaked whatsapp chats and a TRP scam as well but we tend to overlook that as every great person has their moment of vulnerability and reckoning.

In the cut-throat world of sting journalism, most professionals are merely diamonds in the rough. Arnab is a rare polished gem, one who has consistently delivered to the best of his abilities. His style is off-the-cuff but that is what is required in today's day and age. From braving troubled waters of Partho Dasgupta's BARC to leading to his untimely arrest to whatnot, he is truly the type of journalist that India deserves at the moment.

Yes he is intrepid, he is brave and always ready to tackle issues that are hardly ever dealt with and that is his U.S.P. Here's to you Mr. Goswami, Kudos. You really have awakened the journalist lurking in all of us.

Be it moving us to tears in the S.S.R case to handling the Vazegate incident, he has done all of this and how! May you spread the truth and shun ignorance at all times.
