The ride to an unsatisying destination: Bad Boys for life
A high octane roller coaster ride:Bad Boys for life
Admittedly, this is the kind of movie to get rave reviews. This acts as a threequel to the first
two Bad Boys movies and perhaps also serves as the best movie of the three.
The movie has with it equal ounces of action, romance, fight sequences and car crashes and
everything that the viewers are looking for. Sadly, the humour element seems to be missing,
partially due to the massive amount of F-bombs strewn throughout the movie and
mind-numbing violence. The first two flicks in the franchise had something to offer to the
viewers but sadly never made it big in the box office. This action potboiler too follows the
same path. It works until a certain peak, but then follows a jolting decline, in quality, content
as well as quantity.
The story follows the escapades of two battle-hardened cops by the name Marcus
Burnett(Martin Lawrence) and Detective Mike Lowry(Will Smith). Amidst all the sophisticated
weapons, glitz and glamour and the bikini clad women that Miami has to offer, these two
cops have a dark past. They are confronted with it throughout the course of the movie.
These two working in the Miami Metro Police Department are targeted out of the blue by a
duo of a mother and son drug cartel out to get them, by any means necessary. The Mexican
backstory doesn't really into the equation but the director concocted it to add some human
touch to the story. Will these two,in-and-out middle aged cops shed all their inhibitions and
seize the mission by its reins, one last time? Will they, in the process of hunting down the
Mexican drug cartel redeem themselves?!
The dynamic duo coupled with Miami's finest called the AMMO( a bunch of wannabe
detectives who all possess seemingly secret weapons from hacking to the latest tech)
stumble upon amazing past discoveries and developments while trying to nab these dreaded
cartel members . The pace of the movie is a bit too long and stretched out, offering no
closure or an iota of a story.
These shenanigans can only be tolerated by die-hard Bad Boys fans. Do not expect logic
from the film, it's a wholesome entertaining movie that emphasizes upon the aspect of family
and friendships, even if it involves foul mouthed cops and jarring gore. It's a one-time watch
for anyone looking for a way to spend their weekend in a lavish manner. Popcorn curled up,
just kick back, relax and give this a go. It is mindless yet heartfelt. Will Smith's performance
is moving as a detective who is made to battle his own dark past. Martin Lawrence tries to
infuse humour in an otherwise dead script but still fails to make the mark. Vanessa Hudgens
is merely eye candy. Alexander Ludwig may be jacked but seems to have vacant expressions
throughout. Charles Melton is passable in his role.
Overall, it has potential but is still fairly a letdown compared to the previous films in the
blockbuster franchise.
